Great morning today, beautiful 45 degrees outside! With a late start today for the Valley of the Sun Criterium we told the boys they were own their own or breakfast. Plenty of bagels, oatmeal, eggs, cereal and yogurt to choose from. I sat back and looked at all the different choices that were being made from eggs and avocado toast, to oats stacked with raisins, fruit, honey and brown s...

Really positive weekend for me in Napier (home of New Zealand’s Pro Nationals for the last 4 years). I went into the weekend with a strong focus on the Time Trial as it was my last year U23 and wanted to really contest for top honours and wear the Silver Fern for the following year.

I wouldn’t say I was confident going into the Time Trial on Friday because you never really know exactly how the legs will feel because it’s such a...

2018 Dana Point Grand Prix Album

"We hope you see all the effort, teamwork and pure determination in the photos!"

The Dana Point Grand Prix race went off to a fast start until a big pile up in the first 7 minutes neutralized the field, rearranging and not letting the legs get cold was now the goal since we were going to basically have to start sprinting from the gun once again. The race was very...

Stage 5 of the Tour of the Gila began with lots of carbs, coffee, and Topical Edge.  The team was vigilant of the early breakaways for the first part of the day.  A big group got away but the field didn’t like the combination up the road so kept the leash short all day.  Coming into the first big climb of the day, the team kept Brett Wachtendorf and Sean Gardner in perfect positio...

Race Report:  Matt Zimmer

Today the guys took on the Tyrone Individual Time Trial. The course was 26km (16.16 mi) with two categorized climbs totaling 362 meters (1,188) of climbing.  Today, the wind was the biggest challenge. With south/southwest winds gusting up to 50 kph, it was a grueling uphill headwind start. Sean Gardner had a great ride covering the course in 36:59 ea...

Today Tour of the Gila pace started out fast today with a sprint point coming 9km into the race and shortly after the first KOM at 18km.  The pace, along with the wind, made for a difficult climb to the first KOM, where the break was established. The break consisted of 5 riders.  UHC, Jelly Belly, Axeon, and 303 were represented.  The day long break prevailed to the finish where Chri...

Straight forward day, typical Tour of the Gila opener. Started off fast and furious until the breakaway of the day rolled away. Keeping ourselves well hydrated and eating enough to have energy towards the finish was the key for the next few hours, thank you Hammer Nutrition. The Gateway Harley Davidson Trek Development Team did a great support job for Sean Gardner and Brett Wachtendorf.  T...

Thank you Snowy Mountain Photography for all you give to the sport!

That is a wrap on getting our first PRT under our belt for the Gateway Harley-Davidson Trek Development Team.  The Joe Martin Stage Race was a fun and like we expect, a strong learning experience for the team.  Scott Mcgill finished up 6th and Evan Bausbacher 22nd in the U23 GC.  Matt Zimmer was 17th and Scott Mcgill was 20th in the overall GC.  Congratulations t...
